"Raj and the entire shop could not be better! They are all helpful and knowledgeable and I felt very comfortable. I was nervous about getting my certification but they really put me at ease."

"Raj is a funny guy and awesome instructor. He made doing the drills less painful as we did it quickly and completely so we had time to see things while diving. Also his knowledge of underwater life made seeing thins much more fun too!"

"The class size is perfect (small class is always great) and I can get to know my classmates better."

Learning to dive is an exciting experience and an amazing introduction to the vast underwater world. During the class you’ll learn safe diving practices, independence and comfort underwater.
You'll be a diver for life so why not meet a great bunch of divers and have fun getting your PADI Open Water Certification Card?
|
Format:
Our certification is divided into two parts:
- Classroom/Pool: In the classroom we’ll discuss safe diving practices, what-ifs and some diving theory. The fun interactive sessions are based at your study pace. We'll then move what you've learned into the pool; covering techniques from doing routine underwater tasks to elaborate emergency procedures. Your time in the pool will cement what we discussed in the classroom as well as introduce lots of tips and tricks that will make you dive like a pro.
- Open Water Ocean Dives: During the open water dives we’ll do at least four dives at various dive sites around Monterey, Pacific Grove and Carmel. During each of the dives we’ll integrate some of the skills you've learned while pointing out lots of the cool marine life that makes the Monterey Bay one of the most diverse underwater ecosystems in the world. It’s a fun weekend of diving, eating, hanging out and checking out Monterey—we can also suggest some non-diving topside activities for your significant other or friends.

Cost:
At Aquatic Discovery we break your certification class into two parts because we understand that you may prefer to do your Open Water dives on your next tropical vacation or maybe you just want to spread the class out over a longer schedule.
You don’t need to take consecutive Classroom/Pool and Oceans weekends; the only requirement is the sequence is done in order.
Don't be fooled by dive centers that say they charge less to learn to dive! We show you ALL the costs to earn your PADI Open Water Diver Certification: |

Additional things you'll need:
-
-
Personal Gear (mask, snorkel, fins, boots and gloves) - we've got packages starting at $139.45
If you're not ready to purchase your personal gear yet, why not rent? Many people find it more convenient to rent the first time to get a feel for the equipment. We understand divers who own their own gear are more comfortable and dive more so if you decide to buy your equipment during the class we'll credit you the full amount from that rental...don't worry, we match internet prices too!
-
If you join us in Monterey for your ocean dives you will also need to pay for your transportation to and from Monterey, lodging, food, and air fills if you can't get to Aquatic Discovery on Saturday before we close.
Medical Questionnaire:
You must complete a Medical Statement before you can participate in the Open Water class. If you answer "yes" to any of the questions on this medical statement you will need your doctor to fill out the form before you will be able to participate in the pool or ocean sessions of this class.
Class Reschedule Policy:
-
There is no penalty if you reschedule your class 7 or more days prior to the first class meeting.
-
If you reschedule with 2-6 days of notice there's a reschedule fee of 50% of the price of your class. You will need to pay this fee before we can reserve your spot in a different class.
-
If you reschedule less than 48 hours before the first class meeting there's a reschedule fee of 50% of the price of your class IF we fill the class. If we do not fill the class you will need to pay the full class price to join another class.
-
If you do not show up for a class session or arrive late you will be removed from that class and will receive no refund. You will need to pay the full class price to join another class.
